The trapp is not made to go on the Savage, it is a universal fit muffler. You can get a universal muffler from JCWhitney for about $20.00us (though not adjustable). I have the Jardine on my '87 and the sound is great and not to loud. The Jardine is a specific fit muffler and is designed to look great on the Savage. I paid about $120.00US. I have noticed a small bit of yellowing at he front end of the muffler but, a small bit of buffing takes it right off. Now for the removal of the original muffler, I remover the whole system and used a pipe cutter to cut the muffler off the head pipe. The Jardine comes with a heat shield to cover where the muffler and pipe connect and makes a good look.
